Software Engineer - Novus Development
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
* Responsible for writing code to implement system deliverables as defined in business requirements documents, system architecture and design documents.
* Document and unit test all code modules using standard tools.
* Participate during the QA and UAT processes by modifying code to fix any Critical or High defects in order to ensure approval of the deliverable(s)
* Participate as defined in any Deployment Plans for scheduled or emergency releases of the supported application
* Adopt and enforce all software development life cycle processes as defined by West technology.
* Immediately raise issues or risks to the successful and timely completion of deliverables to the Project Manager or immediate supervisor.
* Utilize the source code control management systems (Team foundation) to tightly integrate the activities of the teams.
* Participate in daily review meetings with the Technical Program Manager and/or the Senior Software Architect and/or the global development group to discuss project status, system design and/or product requirements.
* Day to day interaction with project champions and other stakeholders, including product manager, quality assurance, technical support, software developers and globally-based program management and software development groups.

Minimum Qualifications:
A four-year degree in computer science or a related field is required. Graduate training in business or technology is a plus, but not required.
Required Skills :
Previous Experience :
* 3-5 years of experience in application development and support of Java and Oracle based applications running in the Unix/Linux environment.
Candidates should also possess:
* Strong organizational and analytical skills
* Effective problem-solving and issue resolution capabilities
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge and Skills :
* Proficiency in Oracle 8 and higher, pl_SQL, Java , C/C++, Unix Shell Scripting, J2EE, EJB, HTML, XML
* Knowledge of relational database design
