National Financial has expanded their services in the Canadian market place and as a result, Fidelity Clearing Canada ULC is seeking a Financial Analyst, Accounting to be part of this business.
Position Description
The Financial Analyst, Accounting reports to the Manager, Accounting and is responsible for the preparation of operating budgets, forecasts, variance analysis and regulatory monitoring and reporting for a self-clearing broker dealer, member of the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada ("IIROC").
Responsibilities
* Create and develop key business unit reports that capture key measures of success including:
* Monthly management reports which includes key sales, sales opportunity, and financial success against pre-determined targets.
* Monthly and Quarterly business unit scorecards
* Sales Opportunity (pipeline) reporting
* Contribution analysis for new busines
* Execute all regulatory related reporting including:
* Daily risk adjust capital (RAC) forecasts
* Daily capital usage reporting
* Monthly financial report (MFR) filed with IIROC
* Reconciliation of the monthly MFR to the weekly RAC forecast
* Year end Joint Regulatory Filing Questionnaire and Report (JRFQ&R)
* Assist in the development and preparation of the following:
* annual budgets
* capital budgetting
* monthly forecasts
* monthly budget to actual variance analysis
* contribution analysis on various lines of business including profitability forecasts and sensitivity analysis
* reports to management on issues related to forecast and contribution
Qualifications
Education, Experience and Licenses
* University degree with a focus on business (Accounting, Economics, Commerce preferred)
* Completion of or working towards a financial/accounting designation (CGA or CMA preferred)
* 4 years experience working in a finance department with a minimum of 2 years experience in financial analysis (preferably with an introducing/ self-clearing broker dealer)
* Experience modeling, reporting, budgeting and/or business planning
* Completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC)
* Completion of CICA - In-depth Brokerage Course is an asset
Skills and Knowledge
* Knowledge of Dataphile or ISM, IIROC financial compliance rules and Microsoft applications (Excel, MS Access )
* Ability to meet strict deadlines and adapt to unique and changing expectations
* Ability to effectively liaise, build relationships and use appropriate influencing strategies with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complicated concepts into business terminology
* Ability to effectively make presentations to diverse internal audiences
* Strong attention to detail
